Serenity

Turquoise has always been my favorite color. It has this rare ability to make me feel calm and energized at the same time. Whenever I see it, I feel a little lighter.

I started this painting on a day when I wasn’t feeling quite like myself. I didn’t really know what I needed, but I found myself drawn to this color. As I painted, my thoughts immediately went to Croatia and those long summer days by the sea.

There is a very specific feeling I associate with that turquoise water. The sun has been warming your skin all day, and then you jump into the cool, crystal-clear sea. You come back out feeling refreshed, with your skin still warm from the sun and salty from the water. Everything feels slower for a moment. You breathe a little deeper, stay in the water a little longer, and suddenly there is nothing else you need to think about.

That is the feeling I wanted this painting to hold.

The little yacht in the center represents the other part of it for me. Freedom, luxury and the feeling of being completely disconnected from everyday life. Just being somewhere beautiful, with nowhere you need to be.
