May Unfolding

There comes a point when you stop searching so hard.

Not because you have everything figured out, but because you have learned to trust yourself.

You begin to understand that finding your path doesn’t necessarily mean knowing exactly where it will lead. Sometimes it simply means knowing that you are finally walking in a direction that feels like your own.

For me, May Unfolding represents that feeling.

The magnolia, with its large and open blossoms, became a symbol of arriving at a place where you no longer feel the need to hold yourself back. There is something powerful about a flower that doesn’t try to be anything other than what it is.

And once again, the beginning of the painting was completely outside my control. The snow shaped the movement of the pigments, creating something I could never have planned myself. I could only watch it happen and trust the process.

Then I stepped back in and painted the magnolia – deliberately, carefully, bringing my own vision into the randomness.

Maybe that is what finding your way really is.

A painting about letting go of who you thought you had to be and unfolding into who you truly are.
